Startup ideas in your inbox (The Rainforest #1)
Hey š
The Rainforest was originally meant to send you an early stage startup-related resource every week, but you know what?
I want to do more.
Every Friday Iām going to send you a fresh startup idea AND a resource to make you improve as a current or aspiring entrepreneur.
The ideas Iām going to share with you come from the INSANE amount of time I spend reading reports and books, listening to podcasts, watching videos, reading from amazing accounts on Twitter and talking with people smarter than me. I hope youāll find them useful and inspiring.
Now, letās start with the first ever ideaā¦
The Problem
According to a 2019 Canadian study, more than 62% of entrepreneurs admitted to feeling ādepressedā at least once a week.Ā
And another study in 2015 by researchers at the University of California-San Francisco found that mental-health issues experienced by many entrepreneurs and start-up founders are āragingā and inadequately addressed, with about 50% of the entrepreneurs participating in the study saying they suffered from at least one form of mental-health condition during their lifetime.
The Idea: Mental health app for entrepreneurs
Thereās evidence that entrepreneurs with greater psychological flexibility are, on average, more satisfied.
But whatās psychological flexibility? Itās made by these 3 abilities:
Step back. i. e. mentally withdraw from a situation in order to consider it objectively;
Shift perspective, so they can recognise their perspective isnāt the only one;
Emphasise values. Help them make decisions based on what they value rather than how they feel.
Think what Teale is doing, but for entrepreneurs.
